What do i want?

godmorgon

Sometimes i have no idea whatsoever about what i want (or, for that matter, what i dont want) with my photography.
Do i want to shoot food? nude girls? dressed girls? starving children? rock stars? brats at stureplan? (okay, i'll have to admit im quite sure about that one ;)

I'm right now in the middle of the process of applying to different schools. And the only one i know for sure that i want to study at is "nordens fotoskola" at biskops arnö, on the countryside a bit north of stockholm. A school that has the best documentary photo course i know of, it has formed some of my favorite swedish documentary photographers. I also could very well see myself work in the field of documentary photography in the future, so if the school will take me (they only take 18 new students every year) i will most likely leave Berlin and move to the swedish woods for 2,5 years. Another option is Gamleby, they also have a pretty decent photography education, more into fashion and magazine photography. I know a great photographer studying there at the moment, Jesper Ulvelius. What talks against this school in my opinion is two things: the location, its very far from any major city, i dont know if i could really cope with living a bit outside from swedish SMALLtown for two years. isolation could of course be a good thing, but two years is a pretty long time... I've also got a problem regarding the fact that im afraid that they're making all the students there producing pictures looking pretty much the same (this is of course just a conclusion i've come to by studying a fairly low amount of pictures from their students). I'm also not sure if i would like to work in the fashionbuisness anyway, i can't say im interested in clothes, the only thing appealing to me regarding that field is probably the opportunities of mostly having gorgeous looking women posing for me to be honest, (and i think that can be achieved quite easily anyway ;) )
Other options are HFF in Gothenburg, a art-photo school and the "akademie der bildenden künste" in Vienna. Some part of me would really want to study at either of those schools, but on the other hand i'm quite sceptic about artschools, and also unsure about if it would be worth to invest all that time and money risking to become yet another unemployed artist.
Or i'll just keep the photography on the level its on right now, semi professional, and move to Gotland and study videogame-development instead.
Tough choice.
And an even more important question: Would any of those schools want crappy me as their student?

I will think it over and watch those nudes while doing it.
