A great day! I met up with Vivi, another one of the members of the Shanghai CS-scene. She showed me around the city, and we found a great gamecenter, they had purikura, some strange game where you were supposed to stand on a conveyor belt and walk a dog, and of course, Taiko no Tatsujin! I played until i got blisters in my hands. Later on we had lovely sushi (20 RMB!), walked along the sparkling bund, and ended up at a nice bar with a lovely view of the hangpu river.

For every passing day i seem to like this city more and more.

Vivi was not just a great guide, but she is also a great singer, click here to listen.

Stewed frog and kung-fu

I spent last day mostly in my bed. The combination of too much Chinese red-wine, and a massive lack of sleep due to jetlag, is not exactly too pleasant. In the evening I finally managed to get out of bed, and to meet up my new found friend for dinner at a restaurant serving Sichuan food. The food from the province struck by the terrible earthquake last year is relatively spicy, since chill is used in almost every dish. We had some kind of stew with frog, tofu and potatoes. It was the first time I ate frog (wich was good, tasted like chicken but with more bones in it). We also had some tofu based omelette. As a side dish we had some dried pork that you were supposed to eat with vegetables and a spicy sauce. Everything was really good, but unfortunately it made me wake up in the middle of the night with terrible pain in my stomach. After some suitable measures were taken, and some rest, I felt better and could keep on sleeping.

At the restaurant there was also a interesting show with some dancer that could switch mask ridiculously fast, and another guy mixing tea-pouring and kung fu. I had a great evening, mostly due to the great company and good conversation.
