Finally a childhood dream came true last week, and i got to visit Tokyo Game Show. It was fun even tough a tad underwhelming. There wasn’t really that many games that managed to catch my interest (one of the exceptions is Child of Eden). But at least the cosplayers were fun, and i got to shake hands with my favorite producer Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez, Space Channel 5, Lumines etc).
Oh and i also did some interviews with the producer of Segas Yakuza series, and some of the hot shots at bullet-hell experts Cave. Unfortunatley these will only be published in Swedish (at Eurogamer.se, where there’s also plenty of photos i didn’t care to post here on the blog)

The fireworks around tamagawa rank amongst the biggest in Tokyo. From our location (close to Futako Shinchi station) we could see both the Tokyo/Setagaya fireworks and the ones fired from the Kawasaki side of the river. All these shots are taken hand-held. The highlight of the night was the pig-shaped explosions!

BBQ with Yuka, her sister, brother and father at a lovely little village high on a mountain close to mt. Fuji. On our way back home we passed even closer to mt Fuji and got shocked when the asphalt close to the mountain started playing a song for us.

Lake Shikotsuko is a not only japans second deepest lake, it’s also has the cleanest water in the entire nation. Despite it’s northern latitude it rarely freezes during the winter. Hopefully I’ll get to visit it during the snowy season too sometime. Even though my girlfriend complained over the water temperature, I had no trouble swimming there.

Otaru is a small town about 30 minutes from Sapporo by JR, famous for it’s beer, glasswork and the old-fashioned canal running trough the city. We had also heard that the seafood in Otaru was supposed to be something special and that there are plenty of beautiful beaches near the city (but due to the weather we didn’t bother to check these out). Another interesting thing is that the street signs in Otaru often also has russian written on them. Northern Hokkaido is not that far from Russia after all…
